Description

Closes #1476. The provider registry (packages/core/src/registries/model-provider-registry.generated.ts) and website provider pages (website/models-docs/providers/) were last generated 2026-07-08 (#1374), so providers models.dev added since are missing — e.g. EmpirioLabs (empiriolabs, listed since 2026-07-10) had no page and no empiriolabs/* strings in the registry.

Re-ran both documented generators against current models.dev data:

  • node packages/core/scripts/generate-model-provider-registry.js → registry, model-provider types, embedding-router types refreshed.
  • node website/scripts/generate-model-docs.js → 235 providers / 8040 models, including ~150 new provider pages (e.g. empiriolabs.md) and updated model tables for existing pages.

No hand edits inside generated files; output is purely the scripts' current-data render.

Verification

  • empiriolabs/doc-researcher-1 present in the registry grep; empiriolabs.md page exists.
  • packages/internal built first so the script's safeStringify import resolves.
  • Diff is confined to the three generated registry files and website/models-docs/** (76 files).

For the scheduled runs suggested in the issue, a follow-up workflow change can reuse these scripts as-is.

Summary by cubic

Regenerates the model provider registry and provider docs from current models.dev data, closing #1476. The registry and provider pages were last generated in July 2026, so providers and models added to models.dev since then, like EmpirioLabs, had no page and no registry entry.

The refresh expands coverage from 80+ providers and 2193+ models to 235 providers and 8040+ models, adding ~150 new provider pages and updating model tables for existing ones.

  • Regenerates packages/core/src/registries/*.generated.ts plus website/models-docs/overview.md and provider pages.
  • Output is purely script-generated; no manual edits were made to any generated file.

Written for commit 6b97ab8. Summary will update on new commits.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Expanded the model-provider directory with setup guides, quick-start examples, credential and endpoint configuration, and model listings for many additional providers.
    • Refreshed existing provider guides with current model catalogs, examples, provider details, and documentation links. Some listings and configuration options have also changed.
    • Updated the overview to reflect a larger supported provider and model registry, and added guidance on selecting models through routing or provider-specific integrations.

Inline comments:
Review comments at @website/models-docs/providers/digitalocean.md:
- Line 19: Update the shared quick-start model generator to use models.dev task
metadata when choosing both preferred and fallback models, selecting a language
model with text output for Agent examples. Pass the metadata into the generator
and regenerate the DigitalOcean, NEAR AI, and NVIDIA pages; preserve each
provider’s existing model-selection behavior when it meets this requirement.

Review comments at @website/models-docs/providers/google-vertex.md:
- Line 19: Update the preferred model selection for the regular google-vertex
provider so the generated quick start uses a Gemini model supported by
createVertex, not the Claude model shown in the diff; then regenerate the
provider documentation.

Review comments at @website/models-docs/providers/minimax-coding-plan.md:
- Around line 29-35: Update the shared Anthropic adapter’s createAnthropic call
to pass the base URL resolved from provider configuration alongside the API key.
Ensure minimax-coding-plan, freemodel, and subconscious use their configured
provider endpoints rather than Anthropic’s default URL.

Review comments at @website/models-docs/providers/minimax.md:
- Around line 29-35: Update the generator input for the MiniMax provider
documentation so it matches the effective static `minimax` registration: use
`@ai-sdk/openai-compatible` and the `/v1` base URL, including the corresponding
`minimax-cn` configuration. Regenerate the docs so `MINIMAX_BASE_URL` guidance
reflects those registrations.

Review comments at @website/models-docs/providers/openrouter.md:
- Around line 29-31: Update the OpenRouter provider entry so applications
depending only on @voltagent/core can resolve its adapter: use the core-provided
@ai-sdk/openai-compatible package, or ensure @openrouter/ai-sdk-provider is
declared as a runtime dependency of @voltagent/core.

Review comments at @website/models-docs/providers/perplexity.md:
- Line 19: Remove the non-routable perplexity/model-id quick-start example from
the Perplexity docs when the pinned provider catalog is empty, or clearly mark
the ID as a placeholder users must replace. Apply the same correction to the
lilac.md fallback so neither document presents the placeholder as a runnable
model.

Preserve the removed provider IDs in EXTRA_PROVIDER_REGISTRY.

The regenerated registry removes firmware, github-models, llama, and v0. Agent.resolveModelReference passes configured provider/model strings directly to resolveLanguageModel, which throws when the provider is not registered.

Production has no automatic refresh fallback. The only startAutoRefresh call is guarded by non-production mode, and no other refreshRegistry caller exists. Preserve these provider configurations in the static registry so existing production configurations continue to resolve.

Keep Cloudflare AI Gateway on the OpenAI-compatible adapter.

ai-gateway-provider is not a core dependency or a registered adapter. The generic loader derives cloudflareAiGateway, but the package documents createAiGateway({ accountId, gateway, apiKey }) and requires gateway-specific configuration. Cloudflare model requests can therefore fail during provider loading, even when the package is installed.

Restore the base registry routing:

Resolve environment placeholders before creating the provider client.

resolveBaseUrl returns config.api unchanged after checking explicit overrides. The documented DATABRICKS_HOST, INFOMANIAK_PRODUCT_ID, and CLOUDFLARE_ACCOUNT_ID values therefore remain literal ${...} text in the baseURL passed to @ai-sdk/openai-compatible. The provider uses that value to construct request URLs, so the documented quick starts cannot target their configured endpoints.

Resolve placeholders only for the generated default URL. Keep explicit endpoint and base-URL overrides unchanged.

Major · Stability & Availability · Quick win

Preserve the core Venice adapter for existing installations.

The registry now dynamically imports venice-ai-sdk-provider, but packages/core does not declare this dependency. An existing application using venice/model with only the core-provided @ai-sdk/openai-compatible adapter can therefore fail during provider resolution after upgrading. The new package exposes the required venice export, so it works when installed; the regression is the new undeclared dependency.

@ai-sdk/openai-compatible package, or ensure @openrouter/ai-sdk-provider is
declared as a runtime dependency of @voltagent/core.

the Perplexity docs when the pinned provider catalog is empty, or clearly mark
the ID as a placeholder users must replace. Apply the same correction to the

Make quick-start model selection task-aware.

The shared generator selects the first model without checking its task. This produces unsuitable Agent examples for DigitalOcean (type: "embedding"), NEAR AI (type: "embedding"), and NVIDIA (type: "image" with image output).

Use models.dev task metadata to select a language model with text output. Apply the check to both preferred and fallback models, pass the metadata into the generator, and regenerate the affected pages. Do not fix only digitalocean.md.

Select a Gemini model for the regular Vertex provider.

The generated quick start uses the first registry model. The first google-vertex model is Claude, but createVertex is the Gemini provider. Claude models require @ai-sdk/google-vertex/anthropic. Add a preferred Gemini model for google-vertex, then regenerate the provider docs.

Suggested fix

   anthropic: "claude-3-5-sonnet",
   google: "gemini-2.0-flash",
+ "google-vertex": "gemini-3-flash-preview",
   openai: "gpt-4o-mini",

Update the preferred model selection for the regular google-vertex provider so
the generated quick start uses a Gemini model supported by createVertex, not the
Claude model shown in the diff; then regenerate the provider documentation.

Forward the configured base URL to createAnthropic.

The shared adapter calls createAnthropic with only the provider API key. For minimax-coding-plan, freemodel, and subconscious, the SDK therefore uses https://api.anthropic.com/v1 instead of the generated provider endpoint. The provider key can be sent to the wrong service.

Align the MiniMax setup docs with the router's effective minimax registration.

The page documents @ai-sdk/anthropic and https://api.minimax.io/anthropic/v1 as the provider package and default base URL. The model router does not use that configuration. The static minimax entry uses @ai-sdk/openai-compatible with https://api.minimax.io/v1, and that entry takes precedence over the generated metadata. A user who follows line 37 and sets MINIMAX_BASE_URL to the documented /anthropic/v1 URL can send OpenAI-format chat requests to the Anthropic path. That request can fail. The same mismatch applies to minimax-cn.

Do not hand-edit the page. It is marked as auto-generated, so a manual edit is overwritten on the next regeneration. Correct the generator input so the page matches the effective registration, then regenerate.

Update the generator input for the MiniMax provider documentation so it matches
the effective static `minimax` registration: use `@ai-sdk/openai-compatible` and
the `/v1` base URL, including the corresponding `minimax-cn` configuration.
Regenerate the docs so `MINIMAX_BASE_URL` guidance reflects those registrations.

Preserve the core-provided OpenRouter adapter or declare the new dependency.

The base registry used @ai-sdk/openai-compatible, which @voltagent/core declares. The head dynamically imports @openrouter/ai-sdk-provider, which @voltagent/core does not declare. An existing application that only depends on @voltagent/core can therefore fail at openrouter/model resolution with the loader's import error.

The OpenRouter package does export openrouter, so the generic loader can resolve it when the package is installed. The package is not incompatible with that loader. The regression is the new undeclared runtime dependency.

Do not publish model-id as a quick-start model.

The pinned provider model list for perplexity is empty, so the generator falls back to perplexity/model-id. This is not a routable model ID, and the example cannot be used as written. Omit the runnable example when the catalog is empty, or explain that users must replace the placeholder. lilac.md has the same fallback. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
